It doesn’t matter if you suffer from an illness, a disorder, or an injury: any physical or mental
impairment or diagnoses, no matter its cause, can limit you to less than full-time work, and make you
medically eligible to apply for Railroad (RRB) Disability Benefits.
Pain, fatigue, or any other disabling symptom from any number of impairments can qualify you
for RRB (Railroad) Disability. These impairments include: Spinal diseases and injuries, degenerative joint
disease, upper and lower extremity injuries, carpal tunnel syndrome or other repetitive motion injuries,
hip pain, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, heart attack, angina, peripheral vascular
disease (PVD), peripheral arterial disease (PAD), deep venous thrombosis (DVT), chronic venous
insufficiency, lymphedema, asthma, COPD, emphysema, low vision, stroke, kidney disease, multiple
sclerosis (MS), liver disease, Crohn’s disease, diabetes, peripheral neuropathy, Lupus, Raynaud’s disease,
cerebral palsy, cancer, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis. Mental disorders which may be found
disabling include major depression, schizophrenia, agoraphobia, neurocognitive disorders, severe
bipolar disorder, personality disorders, psychotic disorders, severe anxiety, obsessive-compulsive
disorders, residuals of closed head injuries or stroke, PTSD, dementia, Alzheimer’s, schizoaffective
disorders, or severe panic disorders.
